Central NSW Joint Organisation – Bathurst NSW The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is 3 year contract position shared between 11 participating councils of the Central NSW Joint Organisation (CNSWJO).
The role is responsible for developing strategies and providing guidance to operational activities to ensure that: information assets (and associated technology, applications, systems, infrastructure, services and processes) are mitigated against cyber threats in accordance with the Office of Local Government and the NSW Audit Office guidelines; all participating councils have access to expert strategic advice that enables senior executives to appropriately manage cyber-risk in an increasingly digital,
global and interconnected local government context; existing collaboration in the cyber security environment between participating councils is optimised, and that the potential for efficiencies across the regional footprint are identified and direction of relevant organisations is enabled; cyber and information security education awareness for Councillors and the Executive Management Teams is highly effective, and all participating councils have a sector-leading culture of cyber awareness and responsibility through practical input and advice from the CISO into the annual awareness training programs; and each Council's executive leadership teams and Audit, Risk and Improvement Committees (ARICs) are kept up-to date on the cyber security environment of Council by way of regular reporting through the IT Managers.
We are looking for someone who can deliver a project end-to-end, working autonomously and bringing key stakeholders on the journey.
A high level of communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
While it is desirable that the position is based in Bathurst, NSW, remote working will be considered for the right applicant.
Physical presence at participating councils is essential, at a minimum of once per year, or more if the person is located within the CNSWJO region.
The approach to physical attendance can be flexible, it is to be agreed to by all participating councils and will be reviewed periodically.
The frequency of visits will be negotiated.
