What you'll be doing
- The Operational Assistant role supports the clinical team within the Operating Theatre Unit to ensure the smooth and effective running of the surgical services provided by Mount Druitt Hospital.
- The Operational Assistant will ensure to maintain a high standard of patient care and safety within the Operating Theatre Complex, by providing services which include patient portering, positioning and theatre equipment setup, removal,
cleaning and restocking within theatre suites, recovery and associated areas.

Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated experience as an operational assistant, wardsperson or in a patient care role within an acute care setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, with effective time management and prioritisation skills.
- Good knowledge of Infection Control and, Work Health and Safety standards and procedures, with a particular focus on clinical manual handling.
- Demonstrates the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and take direction from peri-operative management, team leaders and other staff as required.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate respectfully to line management, colleagues, patients, and visitors.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, which includes pushing patient occupied beds, lifting patients using relevant equipment and mobilising wheeled equipment.
- The position is primarily located at Mount Druitt Hospital Monday to Friday AM and PM shifts but will include working at Blacktown Hospital as required to meet service needs.
