The Burton Street Centre, Family and Youth Counsellor will work as part of the Alcohol and Drug Service, St Vincent’s Health Sydney. This position will be responsible for delivering high quality, professional treatment to families of young people who use drugs or substances of concern.
The Family and Youth Counsellor will also work directly with young people. Service delivery will be provided both onsite at St Vincent’s Hospital and within partner organisations. You will identify opportunities for improvement in clinical practice; develop or lead ongoing quality improvement activities and contribute to the review and development of the service’s policy and procedures. The position will work alongside the Team Lead, the Youth Counsellor, Social Worker and Youth Worker to engage young people and their families, in brief intervention, case management, and family based counselling interventions within a harm minimisation framework. This position is responsible for building and enhancing partnerships with internal and external services. The Family and Youth Counsellor will be required to ensure that appropriate treatment is conducted in consultation with clients of the service including the development of care plans, gathering of outcome measures and participating in clinical review processes. Demonstrated capacity to develop and maintain partnerships with other health services and external agencies. 6. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills. 7. High level computer skills: Microsoft Office, Patient Record Systems. 8.
