POSITION OVERVIEW






As the HSE Systems Manager, your primary responsibility is to ensure the organization's adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards through meticulous oversight and strategic management of HSE systems. You will play a pivotal role in conducting thorough assessments of current HSE practices, developing and implementing effective HSE strategies, and providing expert guidance to senior leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- HSE Standards Review: Assess current Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards within the organization to understand performance strengths and weaknesses.
- HSE Strategy Design: Develop a strategy focused on improving the organization's HSE culture and performance through continuous improvement processes.
- Strategic HSE Advice: Provide strategic HSE guidance to the senior leadership team.
- Performance Metrics and Reporting: Create metrics to measure HSE performance and provide monthly reports. Analyse data to identify performance opportunities and recommend improvement measures.
- EH&S; Systems Management: Lead the simplification, enhancement, and maintenance of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S;) systems.
- Training Development:





Develop training processes to enhance the engagement of site teams (staff and workers) in the use of EH&S; systems and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) compliance.
- Site Visits and Feedback: Regularly visit sites to support project management teams and gather feedback for potential improvements.
- Project Audits: Participate in internal and external project audits.
- High-Risk Area Reviews: Engage in high-risk area reviews and project risk assessments.
- Leadership and Support: Provide leadership and support to EHS Advisors.
- HSE Culture Development: Foster an HSE culture that encourages employees to improve performance in HSE.
- HSE Standards Guidance: Offer clear guidance on acceptable HSE standards for all employees.






- Cultural Leadership: Act as a cultural leader within the organisation.
- Accreditation Maintenance: Assist in maintaining all ISO, FSE, and other existing HSE-related accreditations.
- Event Presence: Be present at HSE-related events, especially those involving significant risk.
- Workshops and Training: Lead HSE-related workshops, training sessions, and toolbox meetings as needed.
- Subcontractor Compliance: Oversee subcontractor documentation to ensure compliance with the organization's minimum standards.
- HSE Concerns: Serve as a sounding board for HSE-related concerns.
- Incident Review: Review accident, illness, incident, and WorkSafe reports to ensure necessary actions are taken to prevent recurrence and communicate learnings to the organization.






- Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation: Oversee the organization's workers' compensation scheme and rehabilitation services.

REQUIREMENTS

- Educational Background: Possess tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated computer skills, particularly with Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) systems.
- Construction Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of high-rise construction processes.
- Plant Safety: Strong understanding of safety requirements for construction plant and equipment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Documentation Management: Proficiency in managing and organizing documentation.
- Legislative Knowledge:





In-depth understanding of construction-related safety legislation.
- Industrial Relations: Mastery of industrial relations within the construction sector.
- Specialized Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with confined space requirements, precast concrete panel installation, construction electrical installations, working at heights, and window installation.
- Public Speaking: Ability to effectively communicate with large groups of workers.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency: Skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Safety Auditing: Experience in conducting safety audits for large commercial construction projects.
