Phillip Riley has partnered exclusively with a leading Energy Network Service Provider in New South Wales to find qualified Dual-trade Distribution and Transmission Powerline Workers.
Our client is undergoing significant upgrades and the installation of new assets, prompting the need to strengthen their team across various locations around the Sydney and Greater Sydney area. About the Role:

Dual Trade Power Line Worker:
This role requires an electrically qualified (Cert III ESI Distribution - Australian Standard) field worker to be primarily involved in the construction, repair, and maintenance to ensure the safety, reliability, sustainability, and affordability of customers of our overhead network assets.

Daily/weekly tasks will include:

- Safely undertake work to the approved quality standards, cost and time, ensuring safety always remains the primary focus.






- Inspect, install and/or maintain overhead network infrastructure and electrical equipment such as structures, associated hardware, overhead conductors, cables and other electrical apparatus.
- Install and/or maintain poles, insulators, hardware, cross‐arms, stays, conductors and clearances.
- Perform low-voltage heat shrink terminations.
- Perform Low Voltage switching operations.
- Work safely near live electrical apparatus.
- Operate plant and equipment safely near live electrical conductors and apparatus.
- Competently use basic hand and power-operated power tools and equipment.
- Prepare work site and equipment to enable safe completion of work.
- Participate in assessment and preparation of job site for upcoming work.






- Liaise with key internal and external contacts such as customers and contractors.
- Support the resolution of customer complaints.
- Use, interpret and apply drawings, basic diagrams, schedules, standards, codes and specifications.
- Use ropes, knots, splices and slings safely.
- Participate in emergency restoration work.
- Effectively utilise computers and/or mobile devices for the completion of safety and other required documentation.
- Undertake steel tower work.
- Erect and install 11kV heat shrink / cold shrink jointing terminations.
- Participate and assist in the connection and disconnection of mobile generators (no synchronisation).
- Conduct fault finding, testing and associated repair work on the overhead network.






- Receive access permits in line with the work performed in this band.
- Safely apply restricted or limited operating authorities for which the employee is deemed competent.
- Use, interpret and apply complex or advanced drawings and diagrams.
- Coordinate assessment and preparation of job site for upcoming work including estimating and preparation of quotes.
- Participate in or support the resolution of customer complaints.
- Provide guidance to others such as less experienced employees and contractors.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be directed by your Manager, in line with the Work Level Standards for this role.

About you:
The following are MANDATORY Minimum Occupational Capability Requirements of Knowledge, Skills, Accreditations, Licencing, and/or Authorisations,





you must have to be successful in this role:

- Qualified Line Worker– Cert III in ESI Power Systems (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in an electrical trade role within the electricity distribution or related industry.
- Class MR driver's licence.
- Electrical Safety Rules accreditation and other relevant statutory training.
- Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.
- High-Risk Work Licences (HRWL) – multiple such as Elevated Work Platform and Dogging.
- WH&S; Work Cover – General Induction.
- Asbestos awareness and experience working safely with asbestos materials related to line work.






- Demonstrated experience in the application of safe manual handling techniques.
- Basic skills in the use of computers and mobile devices Demonstrated experience in effectively
- communicating with others.
- Proven capability to work effectively within a team or work crew.

Desirable: may be required in this role but not all in this role may need it:

- High-Risk Work Licences (HRWL) – multiple such as Elevated Work Platform and Dogging.
- Demonstrated experience in the operation of plant and equipment.
- Basic Climbing Procedures training.
- RMS Traffic Controller – Level 1/2/3 Certificates.
- Class HR driver's licence.
- Access Permit Recipient Training.
- Competence to perform Low Voltage switching operations.
- Competence in the use of basic hand and power-operated power tools and equipment.






- Competence to perform low voltage heat shrink terminations.
- Competence to apply relevant operating authorities.
- Competence to undertake steel tower work.
- Competence in erecting and installing 11kV heat shrink / cold shrink jointing terminations.
