We are seeking a visionary
Deputy Head - Business Oversight, Risk & Compliance
to join us in a strategic Line 2 role, overseeing the management of material risks in business areas across the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), this newly created role is designed to enhance our management of material risks, strengthen risk culture, and ensure we stay ahead in an ever-evolving risk landscape.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership:
Lead and mentor a team of senior Line 2 risk class specialists, including experts in technology, cyber, financial, model, resilience, and people risks, to drive consistency in risk management across the RBA. Strategic Oversight:
Work with the CRO and Deputy Head - Strategy & Operations, to oversee the management of various risk classes within business teams, providing robust review and challenge of, and insights into, business area risk management practices, as well as specialist advice to support teams to meet risk management expectations. Risk Culture:
Foster a strong risk culture across the RBA, promoting best practices and continuous improvement. Collaboration:
Work closely with business areas to ensure alignment of risk management strategies with RBA goals. Innovation:
Drive innovation in risk management processes and tools, leveraging the latest industry trends and technologies.
Experience Required: In-depth knowledge of various risk classes, including technology, cyber, financial, model, resilience,
and people risks. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Extensive experience in an executive/director risk management role, preferably within a financial institution, professional services, or regulatory body. Experience in leading during a risk transformation, ideally within a financial institution. Strong leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and developing high-performing teams. Deep expertise in risk management and practices, with the ability to navigate complex risk landscapes. Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
