The Senior Analyst supports the Senior Manager - Hedging & Structuring (H&S;) in leading the H&S; team in fore fronting the design, valuation, and implementation of tailored guaranteed solutions to meet business, clients and advisors needs.
The role will support in developing, maintaining and optimising the performance for critical hedging, asset and liability valuation production models and tools such as the Guaranteed Minimum Benefit (GMxB) liability pricer.
Additionally, the role will assist in reporting capital requirements, pricing and profitability metrics.
As part of the Hedging & Structuring team, the role will participate in and support hedging operations as required.
How you'll make an impact
Maintain and Enhance GMxB Liability Pricer by improving performance, functionalities and accuracy through model reviews and ad hoc studies,
supporting model releases, and assisting users (Pricing/Hedging/Reporting) in model use.
Support pricing assumptions and client behaviour reviews.
Produce Capital Reports by ensuring accurate and timely monthly/quarterly reporting, calculating impacts of shocks on capital, maintaining and evolving reporting tools.
Uphold Integrity of Inputs and Key Production Models & Tools by validating pricing and hedging inputs and assumptions, maintaining the Hedging Inforce File, developing and maintaining key models and tools (e.g., GMxB Liability, in-house economic scenario generator, return-on-capital models), challenging current quantitative methods to enhance model accuracy and performance.
Support the Senior Manager in delivering strategic priorities for AMP and innovative retirement solutions, assisting in design, cost calculation, and implementation of solutions, for business development initiatives.
May when required, participate in BAU hedging operations (delivering daily hedging profit/loss, trade recommendations, and monthly reports).
What you will bring to the team
Financial tertiary-level qualification or completing post-graduate studies such as PhD, AIAA, CFA, Master of Quantitative Finance or Applied Mathematics are highly desired.
Ideally at least 3 years of relevant industry experience (eg: Financial engineer, Quant) for this role.
Experience in the financial services industry, including product and derivative pricing, investments, risk analysis,
and developing and maintaining complex financial models, with proficiency in C++, Excel, VBA, SQL, and other programming languages.
Solid knowledge of object-oriented language (C++) applied to finance.
Theoretical and practical knowledge of Interest rates modelling (e.g.
Hull-White model) and other asset classes modelling.
We will look favourably upon an understanding of and experience in some or all of the following: Expertise in structured products, guarantees, derivatives, and retirement solutions, with an understanding of superannuation, retirement, and investment platform markets, including competitors and the legislative and compliance environment.
Knowledge on capital reporting standards for banks or insurers and applying stochastic and deterministic valuation methodologies to analyse profit, capital, and profit at risk movements.
We are looking for a candidate with knowledge of innovative insurance or investment products, such as variable annuities, and the ability to meet monthly deliverables.
They should have solid understanding of business metrics, excellent business acumen, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
The ideal candidate will be able to review outputs for reasonableness, balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail and manage multiple stakeholders, including external suppliers.
They should also foster a client-centric focus within the team and be self-motivated with a drive for continuous improvement.
