About the Role
The QA and Automation Practice Lead is a senior role responsible for driving qualityassurance and overall testing within the bank. This individual will provide strategic guidance and hands-on leadership to the QA and Automation engineering teams, ensuring adherence to best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and implementing solutions to reduce defects, increase automation coverage, and optimize testing processes. Additionally, this role will oversee the testing tool landscape, manage budgets, and collaborate with vendors to ensure the bank has fit-for-purpose solutions.
Leadership and Guidance:
- Set the Vision: Define and communicate the strategic vision for QA and Automation,
aligning with the bank's overall technology and business goals.
- Establish Best Practices: Develop and implement QA and Automation standards, frameworks, and methodologies, ensuring consistency and efficiency across projects.
- Mentorship and Coaching: Provide guidance and support to QA and Automation engineers, fostering their professional development and enhancing their skills.
Quality Assurance and Test Automation:
- Defect Reduction: Implement strategies to identify and reduce defects early in the development lifecycle, minimizing their impact on production environments.
- Automation Expansion: Champion the adoption of test automation, increasing coverage and reducing reliance on manual testing efforts.
- Testing Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve testing processes, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with industry best practices.
- Unit and Component Testing: Promote and facilitate robust unit and component testing, ensuring the quality of individual software components.
Tooling and Vendor Management:
- Tool Landscape: Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of testing and test automation tools, ensuring they meet the bank's needs.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for testing tools and related expenses, optimizing costs and ensuring value for money.
- Vendor Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and other providers, evaluating their offerings and negotiating favourable terms.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Cross-Functional Partnerships: Collaborate effectively with development, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
- Communication and Reporting: Provide regular updates on QA and Automation progress, metrics,
and initiatives to senior management and other stakeholders.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and improve testing processes and practices.
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline testing efforts and increase efficiency.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
- Extensive experience in managing the QA practices and 8+ years of experience in test automation
- 5+ years of experience in team leadership.
- Strong understanding of testing principles and practices
- Good understanding and experience with release and environment management process
- Good knowledge on Azure devops and TOSCA and framework-based solution Experience with C# and java skills.
- Experience with Build tools and their integrations with test automation solution
- Extensive knowledge on Test management tools Opentext / Qtest and other solution.
- Experience in implementing and build the test project templates in management tools and process
- Experience with Service virtualisation solution including postman / tosca and other tools.
- Experience with a variety of test automation tools, frameworks and technologies
