Our client is a leader in the development, construction and operation of renewable energy and storage assets.
With an ambitious growth strategy and strong financial backing, they require a solid Commercial Leader with significant transaction experience across project financing and M&A; within renewables. The purpose of this role is to drive the development & expansion of their commercial function as this business elevates to their next stage of growth.
Your role
We are recruiting a General Manager Commercial to apply commercial and financial expertise to support projects and investments. This role will oversee all commercial aspects of projects including commercial analysis and modelling, financing,
off-take and government tender opportunities.
This role can be based in either Sydney or Brisbane.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the commercial team that supports all aspects of commercial work across the business, including M&A;, financial modelling, financing, commercial due diligence, management reporting and business case development.
- Lead the day-to-day transaction processes (across procurement, financing and off-take) and upskill other team members on transaction processes.
- Support the Development Team, Project Directors and Project Managers with the commercial and financial modelling input needed to progress their projects.
- Develop and maintain a high-performing financial modelling function within the team.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key partners, including banks, OEMs, contractors.
- Mentor all members of the team, providing constructive feedback and growing internal capability.
- Identify opportunities for learning and development and prepare an annual learning and development plan for the team.
- Support the annual goal-setting and biannual performance review process for your team.
- Work collaboratively, provide continuous guidance, encourage decision-making and autonomy.
Your background & experience
- Experience in managing major transactions, preferably project finance transactions.
- Demonstrated success leading teams in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to review and interrogate financial models.
- A passion for coaching and mentoring.
- Relevant Degree in Commerce, Economics, Law, Engineering or similar.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel interstate.
- Ability to plan and manage diverse projects.
- Highly developed research,
analytical and presentation skills.
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate problems and create an effective and detailed action plan.
