Our Sydney office is on Kent Street - a short walk from Wynyard station and close to great cafes in Barangaroo.
Luxury Escapes is an in-person company. We work and collaborate together,
face to face in our Barangaroo office.
About the team
Our cross-functional teams include Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers focused on delivering solutions and solving problems rather than simply completing tickets. The structure is flat, and the process is lean, with a culture of MVP, iteration, and "build, measure, learn" at the heart of everything we do. We share in-depth experience in Node/Typescript, React, PostgreSQL, AWS SQS, SNS, S3 Lambda, and more.
We love learning and have regular "Tech Forums" to share knowledge. We also have some pretty great senior devs, so you'll be both well-supported and challenged.
Our Flights’ team goal is to provide customers with fast results, a wide range of choices, flexibility in booking options, and overall best-in-class UX. If you love digging deep into complex business domains, you'll love flights!
Some problems we're solving include:
- Search relevancy – How do we trade-off between price, stops, duration, departure times etc.,
to provide the most relevant results to our customers?
- Caching – What's the best strategy for an optimal balance between speed and accuracy?
- Choice and flexibility – What new partners should we integrate with, and what features should we prioritise, to maximise choice and flexibility for our customers?
- Flight streaming – To improve our users' experience, we'll be using WebSockets or SST to stream flight search results to the user in real-time.
- Multi-city and Open Jaw flights – allowing travellers to extend their flight itinerary and plan a trip around multiple countries, or travel to/ return from different destinations.
- Price alerts – Real-time updates for our customers when a flight to the destination they're travelling to gets cheaper.
You'll work with the team to
- Deliver features and enhancements relating to the new Luxury Escapes Platform, to ensure all Luxury Escapes members, vendors and internal teams have the best customer journey experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop software solutions that meet business needs and deliver value to customers.
- Apply best practices and industry standards for software development, such as agile methodologies, test-driven development, and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).
- Implement and maintain APIs to enable integration with third-party services, such as airlines, hotels, car rental companies, and payment processors.
- Monitor system performance and reliability,
and proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure maximum uptime and customer satisfaction.
- Participate in code reviews & other quality assurance activities to ensure high-quality software delivery.
Relevant Skills:
- Proficiency in JavaScript and its frameworks, including React, Node.js and Typescript.
- Solid knowledge of SQL, specifically PostgreSQL, for database management.
- Familiarity with RESTful API design principles and implementation.
- Experience in automated testing and continuous integration processes.
