The opportunity this is an opportunity to join the executive team of an established and leading Australian software company about to embark on a significant growth journey. Acquired by a top private equity firm in late 2023, the company is eager to execute on a bold growth strategy and they are seeking an experienced and energetic finance executive to assist the CEO and Executive team to lead the company through its next phase of growth.
Strategy shaping, M&A; activity and guidance, capital management, and commercial negotiations,

The position will suit both a proven CFO seeking an exciting new challenge or a Senior Finance Executive looking to step into their first CFO role. Experience working in a high growth PE portfolio company or a medium sized business that has grown significantly will be viewed favorably.
The challenge this is an ideal role for an outstanding finance executive who wants to play a part in shaping the future direction of the business. The role will be challenging and exciting as you are overseeing the routine of the finance function while also being directly involved in complex commercial matters and the strategic direction of the business.
Partnering with the CEO, the ELT and the PE Group, your responsibilities will include plan, implement, manage,
and run all financial activities including business planning, budgeting and forecasting. There is currently a small accounting team, so you will be required to be hands on to build this out.
M&A; work – Investment appraisal and analysis with subsequent integration of the acquired companies’ finance and corporate functions into the business. Manage and oversee cashflow and ensure appropriate controls are in place. Leadership and growth of the finance and administration team to ensure the production of timely and accurate standardised monthly financial statements and management reports.
Provide analysis of financial information and make recommendations to improve success and profitability of the business.
Work with managers to understand business objectives and identify and implement improvements to maximise the business objectives. Manage monthly financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and all statutory financial reporting.
Presentation of financial results and insights to the Board, with a monthly Board pack and results presentation. Managing and overseeing the taxation affairs of the organisation and liaising with the external tax firm for specialist advice. Assist in contract negotiations and structuring.
The expertise it is a given that you will be a top tier finance executive with a proven background and track record. To be successful in this role it’s likely that you are either an experienced finance executive that is currently working as a CFO within a Private Equity backed company. It’s likely you will have some M&A; exposure,
and ideally you have assisted in integrating finance functions in addition to preparing a business for an exit (IPO or sale).
Possibly, you will be an experienced finance executive who began your career with KPMG, EY, Deloitte or PwC before progressing your career to be a Divisional CFO, Deputy CFO, FC, or FD in a leading high growth company and you are now ready to step up into your first CFO position.
