Job Summary Opportunity to shape the human resources function at a Sydney-based law firm with an enviable culture. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Human Resources Manager to join a leading Sydney law firm on a permanent basis. Taking the lead on all operational and strategic HR initiatives within your given client groups, you will have responsibility for defining and executing a people strategy that effectively meets business goals. Working as part of a high-performing, innovative business, you will have one direct report and be responsible for managing the firm through a period of change and transition,
heavily involved in a number of strategic HR projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Development:
Create and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures that align with the firm’s goals and regulatory standards.
Employee Lifecycle Management:
Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training and development, performance management, and offboarding.
Talent Acquisition & Retention:
Collaborate with Partners and the executive team to understand staffing needs and devise effective talent acquisition and retention strategies.
Performance Coaching:
Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to Partners, managers, and employees to foster career development and performance improvement.
Remuneration Management:
Manage the annual remuneration review process, preparing comprehensive remuneration packs with market data for the Executive Committee and Equity Partners.
Employee Relations:
Address employee relations matters,
investigating complaints and promoting a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
Industry Reporting:
Supervise the preparation of industry reports and award submissions, including ALPMA, WGEA, and Australian Business of Choice Awards.
Payroll Oversight:
Oversee payroll processing, collaborating with external payroll providers and the finance team to ensure accurate and timely compensation.
Data Management:
Manage HR-related data and systems to maintain data integrity and confidentiality.
Team Development:
Support the training and development of the HR team to enhance their capabilities.
Industry Awareness:
Stay informed about HR trends and best practices to continually enhance our HR functions.
What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience as an HR Manager ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
Strong knowledge of HR best practices and employment legislation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels.
A proactive and strategic mindset, with a focus on fostering an inclusive workplace.
