Applicants must be able to prove Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being an Aboriginal person and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act.

The Role The Aboriginal Forensic Mental Health Clinician has both a clinical and cultural role within the Forensic Hospital,





delivering and fostering an environment of culturally responsive care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and enhancing the broader Forensic Mental Health system. The Aboriginal Forensic Mental Health Clinician will work within a multidisciplinary team, across all the units within the Forensic Hospital, and provide cultural consultation and guidance on patient strategies, clinical interventions and management plans. The positions will work closely with Aboriginal patients’ families and carers, providing cultural advocacy and support. Key functions will include working collaboratively with Justice Health Network staff, liaising with the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations sector,





collaborating with the Forensic Hospital’s Aboriginal Mental Health Clinical lead, and seeking support and guidance when required. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: · Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing / Psychology / Social Work / Occupational Therapy/ Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health - Djirruwang Graduate) · Registration: Full Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse / Psychologist / Occupational Therapist; or, for Social Workers, eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) · Evidence of Diversity claim if applicable (state which category): Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Our location, team, and service The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility in New South Wales,





operated by Justice Health NSW. This facility provides specialist, therapeutic inpatient care for adults and adolescent forensic, correctional, and high-risk civil patients. A multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing, and allied health professionals provide care across the clinical spectrum, from high dependency and acute care, to long stay and rehabilitation care.
