Leah Roberts: leah.roberts1health.nsw.gov.au | 0447 109 958 About the opportunity The Youth Mental Health Initiative is an exciting new initiative to improve early access to care for 12–25 Year old presenting to headspace services with severe and complex mental health needs and facilitate transition between services when needed. The successful incumbents will be attached to the specialist mental health team, with time co-located within the headspace centre. The staff will carry a case load as well as collaborating with headspace and the LHD to enhance youth mental health pathways and services. This will be achieved by collaborating with partner agencies, developing referral pathways and ensuring timely transition of care between the partner services. The preferred person will demonstrate confidence with managing high risk complex presentations in young people, provide leadership, mentorship and supervision,
to ensure the delivery of strengths based and recovery orientated mental health care and treatment within the Youth/ Early Intervention multi-disciplinary team. Able to work from a trauma informed culturally safe lens. Carry a clinical caseload providing intensive therapeutic interventions, collocate and collaborate with headspace, and to create streamlined referral pathways between headspace and the LHD (to and from). Relevant qualification/ registration in one of the disciplines: Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy or other qualification deemed appropriate by the employer, with registration with the AHPRA Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership for AASW.
Psychologist registered with AHPRA with a minimum of 9 years experience working as a Psychologist. Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent. Registered Nurse/Midwife appointed to a position classified as such with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organization. Demonstrated experience providing advanced evidence based, strengths focused,
recovery orientated assessment, treatment of the mental health service. Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy and practice of consumer’s families and natural supports participating within the treatment process, as appropriate and in accordance with the NSW Mental Health Act 2007. Demonstrated skills in clinical leadership and clinical supervision within a multi-disciplinary treatment setting. Effective interpersonal skills, problem solving skills and personal resilience. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems. Demonstrated leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.
Ability to work independently and in consultation with the multidisciplinary team. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment.
