Come join our fantastic team of mental health clinicians in the Community Mental Health Service With some of the country’s highest levels of urban social disadvantage characterised by homelessness, chronic mental illness, substance misuse and other complex general health needs, St Vincent's Mental Health Service provides a comprehensive range of services and interventions. We deliver a spectrum of services utilising models of care to best support consumers and carers in a recovery focused and strengths orientated framework. About you: A unique opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Community Mental Health Service . The primary responsibility of the Occupational Therapist is to provide mental health assessment and intervention for young people (16 -25 years) engaged with the PEIPOD (Program for Early Intervention & Prevention of Disability - Early Psychosis Program).
You will be adept in providing support to young people with multiple complex needs including mental illness, drug and alcohol issues and homelessness. As a Mental Health Worker you will be working with the individual consumer, their family and carers, and their support network in the community in a recovery framework. You will probably be working in a community mental health role and looking to specialise or step up into the next role for you. Are you an occupational therapist with excellent skills and experience in a community mental health setting with a passion for youth mental health. Degree in Occupational Therapy and registered with AHPRA with evidence of clinical experience in a tertiary hospital or health related field as a practising Occupational Therapist 3. Unrestricted NSW Driver’s License 4. Ability to work collaboratively with consumers within a recovery framework 5. Experienced clinician with extensive knowledge working within a multidisciplinary team in an inpatient or community mental health service 6. Demonstrated understanding of early intervention principles in the context of emerging mental health problems in young people 7. Experience and commitment to working with young people with complex needs, including homelessness, drug and alcohol use and forensic issues 8.
