Integrated and Community Health Permanent Up to 1.0FTE Staff Specialist Department of Supportive and Palliative Care Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals CLICK HERE TO APPLY We are looking for a skilled Palliative Care physician to join our specialist multidisciplinary Supportive and Palliative Care Service, working as the Medical lead in the Blacktown Mount Druitt Sector of the Community Palliative Care Service as well as contributing to patient care in the inpatient sector. The Successful applicant will have exceptional clinical, team working and communication skills, a strong work ethic, and experience in delivering Supportive Palliative and End of Life care to members of culturally diverse communities.
The WSLHD of Supportive and Palliative Care Service is dynamic and multidisciplinary highly functioning team of dedicated health professionals comprised of physicians, specialist nurses, allied health, aboriginal palliative care workers. We function as one integrated service working across all sectors of our LHD in partnership with clinicians from other specialist services and primary health care to deliver exceptional specialist Palliative Care to those people and families living with complexity of symptoms in the setting of a life limiting illness and/or the end-of-life phase of an illness. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 6 months may be considered. If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed. Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Selection Criteria Please outline how you satisfy the selection criteria listed below.
In addressing the selection criteria, include any relevant skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience: 1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of both the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency. 2. Possess a sound clinical knowledge in Palliative Medicine shown through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the position’s requirements. 3. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
o High level interpersonal and communication skills. o Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team. o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice. o Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision. 4. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department. 5. A demonstrated interest and capacity to engage in the cross-cultural delivery of Palliative Care to the diverse communities of WSLHD. 6. An understanding of the implication of the social determinants of health and an interest in working to deliver equitable access to health care will be important to this role. 7.
A commitment to working with primary health and RACF clinicians to further their capacity to deliver quality palliative and end of life care to their patients and residents.
