Project Officer, Cultural Consultation ( ID, two vacancies) Join us at the Australian Museum and help us achieve our Mission to ignite wonder, inspire debate and drive change About the Project The Collection Enhancement Project (CEP) is a n important project to register and digitise the biological, geological, and cultural collections of the Australian Museum (AM) . The AM’s Cultural Collection Enhancement Project (CCEP) is a significant component of the museum-wide CEP and is a focused program of specialised works across six collections: (1) Pasifika Cultural Collection (2) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands Collection; (3) Aboriginal Archaeology Collections; (4) World Cultures Collection; (5) Archives; and (6) Rare Books Library.
About the Role The roles are aligned with the Australian Museum’s strategic priorities to deliver core aspects of its Corporate Strategic Plan and Reconciliation Action Plan . The AM continues to exceed Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People Diversity Targets and these roles will e nhance our commitment to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander employment . The Project Officer , Cultural Consultation work s within the Cultural Collection Enhancement Project (CCEP) with a focus on First Nations community consultation (Aboriginal, Torres Strait and / or Pasifika communities) to enrich the outcomes of the collection enhancement process. The Cultural Consultation Officer also works with the CCEP team to prepare cultural collection objects for documentation enhancement, community consultation, digitisation , barcoding as well as online content. The role holder will be required to work in various sites in greater Sydney. Employment Status: Clerk Grade 3/4 One fixed term for up to 4 years,

About you We are seeking two experienced Consultation Officer to work within the Cultural Collection Enhancement Project and with the Pasifika or Australian First Nations communities.
Knowledge & Experience Consultation experience with Pasifika and / or Australian First Nations communities An understanding of Pasifika and / or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and cultural practices and experience working with sensitive material including ICIP and cultural protocols Demonstrated understanding and experience in collection information management practices including the use of databases such as EMu, Fotoware or similar. Related skills will include: Data manipulation and database skills, including data entry, data clean up, Excel proficiency , and file management Knowledge of professional museum and/or digitisation practice. The role holder must be prepared to travel between the various sites which holds the AM collections, and to external stakeholders as needed to support the work of the First Nations Collections teams. Essential requirements This is an Identified role authorised under section 14(d) of the Anti- Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW)

I identify as an Aboriginal person I am accepted by the Aboriginal community as an Aboriginal person I declare that this information is true and correct at the time of submission a statutory declaration if the applicant has no other formal documentary evidence. However, the applicant may need to provide additional supporting documents if the evidence in the declaration is not strong enough.
If an applicant cannot provide any of the above written documentation, AM can consider providing the applicant with an opportunity during the interview to confirm their Aboriginality.
