Position Tagline https://youtu.be/55EA9xcYJJA Where you'll be working Blacktown & Mt Druitt Hospitals What you'll be doing The primary purpose of the Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) in the Emergency Department of Blacktown-Mt Druitt Hospitals (BMDH) is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring emergency medical services in a complex clinical environment.
This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent. The SRMO also participates in teaching Junior Medical Officers and Medical Students, and taking part in research where appropriate. WSLHD has received accreditation by Australian Medical Council (AMC) for the AMC-WBA( Workplace-Based Assessment) program at Blacktown & Mt Druitt Hospitals. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the medical board of Australia in an appropriate registration category. Demonstrated competency in clinical skills including advanced life support with ability to perform ALS procedures (including endotracheal intubation and insertion of central lines, arterial lines and intercostal catheters), interpreting patient history, physical examination, pathology, ECG and radiological investigations to diagnose simple and complex Emergency Medicine presentations Advanced ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management. Completion of ALS training is required and must be completed within 3 months of commencing appointment. Advanced written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and other members of the health care team. Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education. Ability and willingness to work at the facilities within the Network to deliver patient care and preparedness and ability to participate in 7 day per week a 24 hour shift work roster.
