Learn more about our network: http://www.schn.health.nsw.gov.au/professionals Employment Type : Temporary Full Time Position Classification : Visiting Medical Off Hours : 200 per annum Requisition ID : REQ526320 Applications are via eCredential The General Medicine department at The Children's Hospital at Westmead are seeking 2 Visiting Medical Officers (VMO's) with an allocation of 200 hours each per annum for the contracted quinquennium period until 30th June 2027.
What you'll be doing General Medicine at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is a dynamic and growing department providing excellent care to children and their families with general medical problems including those who require more complex chronic and tertiary paediatric care. The busy clinical department is involved in provision of care via inpatient and outpatient ambulatory care models as part of interdisciplinary team care. The General Medical team provides excellent clinical services and works closely with nursing, and allied health staff along with specialty teams and is involved in education and teaching and quality improvement activities. The VMO will provide comprehensive quality evidence-based specialist services and support training of clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice. The VMO is responsible for provision of high-quality safe care to children and their families, as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The VMO is expected to participate in a proportional share of the on-call roster, and as required depending upon broader departmental and organisational needs. The VMO will participate in review and improvement activities along with training and education of staff. VMOs must abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews and complete mandatory training. within the next 6 months may be eligible to apply Demonstrated recent clinical experience in General Paediatrics at the role delineation of the service including short stay, inpatient and ambulatory outpatient models of care. Proven recent clinical expertise in the management of children with tertiary general medicine and children including chronic and complex conditions. Proven ability to embrace and manage new models of care and ability to manage and work within an interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated commitment to teaching,
continuing education, research and promoting a culture of continuous and quality improvement. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
