In this pivotal role, you will bring your extensive knowledge and leadership to oversee the operational management of services within our Operations Centre,
driving key strategies around access, demand, patient flow, nursing staff allocation, and after-hours management. Where you'll be working Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units.
POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. As the Deputy Director of Nursing & Operations you will utilise your extensive experience and/or qualifications as a member of the Prince of Wales Hospitals (POWH) Executive and work in partnership with other senior managers across the facility.
The role provides executive leadership in directing the operational management of services within the Operations Centre including the daily operational activities of managing access and demand, patient flow strategies, nursing staff allocation and after-hours management across POWH. The role is responsible for the delivery of clinical services within allocated resources, ensuring that service activity is consistent with POWH business plans, performance targets and clinical standards The Deputy Director of Nursing & Operations will work closely with the POWH Executive and will actively contribute to the overall leadership and management within the Operations Centre and Central Equipment Store and will be responsible for the development and delivery of the annual business plan, inclusive of implementing organisation-wide initiatives and delivering local improvements and projects that improve performance,
workplace culture and organisational reputation. The Deputy Director of Nursing & Operations will be responsible for the professional development, education and research of nurses and support staff within the Operations Centre and Central Equipment Store. The role will work in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and have an organizational role in driving nursing related professional strategy/ initiatives in line with Professional Nursing Plans at both the facility and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) level whilst fostering an environment that promotes personal and professional development. Holds or is completing tertiary management qualifications relevant to the role, and demonstrated evidence of recent professional development and experience to further enhance leadership and management competencies. Demonstrated experience and competencies in organisational patient flow, workforce, change management and achievements of measurable outcomes. Demonstrated broad clinical, operational and strategic experience at a senior level within a complex health care environment, with an ability to function as part of a senior management team working successfully with other professional and disciplines in the management of health care services. Demonstrated high level verbal, written and negotiation skills with an aptitude to utilize relevant information technology platforms and ability to provide clear and concise business plans and reports. Demonstrated extensive experience in human resources and financial management within a complex health care service. Demonstrated in depth knowledge of current clinical practice, its delivery and models of care and the ability to motivate, inspire, and lead staff to achieve service and clinical outcomes. Demonstrated knowledge of local, state, National and International trends impacting on the Nursing Workforce and the delivery of safe and compassionate clinical practice.
