What you'll be doing The role of Psychologist in the Safeguards team (Clinical Psychologist or Senior Psychologist) is to provide a wide range of psychological services to individuals across the lifespan and for a variety of mental health conditions. They are able to assess and diagnosis mental illness and psychological problems and are qualified to provide advice, consultation and brief intervention in clinical areas.
Psychologist on the Safeguards team will demonstrate skills in solving complex psychological problems requiring individually tailored treatment as well as designing and implementing intervention strategies in various environments in the community. This position is based within the Safeguards Team, Perinatal Child and Youth Mental Health Services (PCYMHS), WSLHD and reports to the Safeguards Team Leader with professional responsibility to District Director of Allied Health. The Safeguards Team is a new multidisciplinary team and dedicated PCYMHS resource designed to provide trauma-informed, recovery focused and evidence-based care to children and adolescents aged 0 -17 years, experiencing mental health distress. This team is community based and provides short-term, rapid, mobile, and flexible care to resolve mental health distress, including comprehensive mental health assessment,
care coordination and brief (single session) interventions. The team currently operates 5 days/week however it is expected that the service will expand to include after-hours support on some weekdays and/or on the weekend. The Safeguards team provides service delivery in the community (Schools, homes, hospital-based settings etc) for consumers and their families/carers across a range of modalities such as face to face, phone and telehealth. Essential Requirements Qualification:
Accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology OR obtained undergraduate and post graduate qualifications in Psychology. Registration: Full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology, or eligibility to progress to endorsement OR Full general registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Selection Criteria Masters or Doctorate degree in clinical psychology or international equivalent with full registration with the AHPRA and specialist endorsement in the area of clinical psychology. OR Completed undergraduate and postgraduate study in Psychology with full general registration as a Psychologist and have completed a minimum of one year at the 9th year of service or beyond.
Extensive effective experience in assessment, intervention, and evaluation of clinical outcomes, particularly in the area of Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Demonstrated ability to work independently in the provision of consumer-focused care. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved consumer care outcomes. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff. Extensive contemporary experience and knowledge of psychological practice,
as well as demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma inform4ed care and its application when working with children/adolescents and families/carers.
