The Role The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Grade 2 Custodial Mental Health is responsible for the provision of safe, evidence-based, person-centred care in line with the standards, policies and procedures of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and other statutory authorities. This care provided utilises the principles of Trauma Informed Care and Recovery and in accordance with the National Practice Standards for Mental Health Workforce and the NSW Health Mental Health Competencies. The position provides a high standard of care in the assessment and management of mental health issues, as well as discharge planning and transfer of care.
The position demonstrates strong clinical leadership in the ongoing development and review of treatment planning and clinical review systems for patients with mental health concerns. Essential Requirements Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Three years' fulltime experience working in mental health and possesses post-graduate qualifications in mental health, or a combination of equivalent experience and qualifications. This is a Targeted Aboriginal Position. Preference will be given to applicants of Aboriginal descent. is a specialist mental health service within Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (the Network) that provides a range of mental health services to adults in NSW correctional centres. Custodial Mental Health is a specialist mental health team, which has mental health nurses (MHNs), nurse practitioners (NPs), Aboriginal Mental Health Clinicians, psychiatrists, career medical officers (CMOs), and psychiatry registrars who are supported by administrative and managerial staff. CMH clinicians work alongside staff from other Network clinical streams and CSNSW staff, including Psychology, Offender Services and Programs, and Custodial Operations staff in the provision of mental health services.
Mental health services begin at the point of reception and continue through to release from custody or transfer to another correctional centre. Salary & Benefits Your salary $109,945.46 - $113,556.22 per annum (pro-rata for part time) plus superannuation and leave loading is just the beginning.
