Duties and Responsibilities
Provide both inpatient and outpatient medical care while under the supervision and guidance of senior medical staff.

Develop a clinical management plan for patients in collaboration with the staff specialist/consultant.

Offer assistance to senior medical staff and actively contribute to the supervision and evaluation of junior medical personnel.

Oversee house officers and interns assigned to the unit.

Participate actively in the orientation, supervision, and education of junior medical staff and medical students.

Lead and guide a multi-disciplinary team in delivering professional,





patient-centered psychiatric intervention, direct clinical care, and treatment to individuals with mental illnesses and their families.

Engage actively in medical training/education, grand rounds, research, and assessment meetings.

Attend mandatory courses and participate in case presentations.

Adhere to policies, procedures, regulations, and standards relevant to the position, demonstrating initiative to ensure the safest possible environment for both patients and staff, including addressing human resource management issues, workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity, and anti-discrimination.

Participate actively in the hospital's Integrated Risk Management and Safety Program, including involvement in the Incident Monitoring System and Root Cause Analysis when appropriate.

Continuously monitor and review patient progress, adjusting the management plan as necessary.

Maintain comprehensive and concise documentation of all observations, opinions, diagnoses, and procedures performed.







Prepare discharge letters, discharge summaries, and other required reports as outlined by the Hospital and Health Service.

Be flexible to work in assigned locations and adhere to daily and after-hours rosters directed by the Clinical Director of Psychiatry.

This position may involve home visits and community visits based on the assigned position.

Adhere to policies, procedures, and instructions related to work health and safety, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and safe services in the workplace.

RequirementsMandatory Qualifications/Professional Registration/Other Requirements:

- Hold an approved medicine degree from a registered tertiary institution

- Eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory authority (Medical Board of Australia)







- Provide certified copies of required proof of identity documents for general criminal history and National Police Certificate checks

- Declare any ongoing criminal or significant previous disciplinary proceedings or restrictions on clinical practice

- Undergo a Working With Children (WWC) Check, mandatory for those involved in child-related work

- Be available for all shifts as per the unit roster

- Hold a valid Class C motor vehicle license and the required endorsement to operate this vehicle. Proof of endorsement is necessary before commencing duty

- Comply with vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) requirements, including vaccination against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), and pertussis (whooping cough)







- Hepatitis B Vaccination for healthcare workers at risk of blood or body fluid exposure, following national guidelines

- Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination, with evidence required before starting

Essentials:
- Ability to participate in teaching, supervision, and training support

- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team

- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Commitment to clinical governance within healthcare

- Understanding and knowledge of the Aboriginal Cultural respect framework

Desirable:
- Proven experience as a medical practitioner within the Australian or equivalent health system

- Dedication to continuous education and research
