About the Role:
WorkPac are seeking a PMO Capital Plan Principal to join the team at Rio Tinto based in Perth. This role offers a Monday to Friday roster, for a 12 month duration.
Lead the setup and management of the Program Management office, overseeing project governance, controls, budgeting, reporting, and team performance while driving continuous improvement and alignment with business objectives.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Develops and promotes the project management systems for the studies and projects within area of accountability
- Develops and contributes to the project controls guidance and protocols
- Applies discipline governance and quality assurance across studies and projects
- Analyses and reports progress to plan to contribute to strategic and operational decisions
- Identifies and implements improvement opportunities for streamlining studies and project controls work process
- Leads development of project control accounts and budget
- Leads the setup and issuance of reports, including estimating, planning and cost control curves
- Leads the development of contingency and change management procedures
- Leads the development of Final Forecast Cost (FFC)
and proactive identification of risks and mitigation
- Manages the relationship with project controls stakeholders within the project and within the business
- Represent or assist the Dept at meetings with wider project and studies teams e.g., STP, Sustaining Capital, etc.
- Assist the Dept and participate, on demand, in dispute resolution sessions involving the Rail Division, the project teams and the subject matter experts/rail discipline engineers.
- Championing department objectives and supporting the development of visible and measurable metrics and actions
Skills and Experience required:
- Commerce Degree
- Highly skilled in leading transformational work. i.e. building new function or change management.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to facilitate workshops to bring about idea generation and gather information, supported by sound written communication skills to produce documentation in formats suitable for consumption by the intended audience is necessary
- Advanced working knowledge of project control processes (cost, resource, estimating or scheduling) and the tools used to deliver a sound governance function
- Proven problem-solving skills to define concepts and identify suitable delivery mechanisms for initiatives
- Proven ability to apply an analytical lens to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement
- Effective relationship building skills with an ability to influence colleagues from across different teams to encourage open dialogue and guide participants towards mutually beneficial outcomes
- An ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and the team
