Rabobank’s Financial Economic Crime (FEC) domain exists to safeguard customers, the bank, and society by detecting and preventing financial and economic crime.
The team has an opening based in Sydney or Wellington for a dynamic self-starter for Fraud and FEC Awareness, and Prevention Lead. This is a hands-on role reporting to the Regional Head of Fraud and FEC Investigations where you will play a key role in raising the awareness of fraud and FEC risks both internally to staff and stakeholders and externally to our clients, across Australia and New Zealand.
The Fraud and FEC Awareness and Prevention Lead is a Line 1 role, focussing on enhancing internal controls and raising FEC, fraud and scam awareness. In addition to being an excellent communicator and presenter to diverse audiences on FEC and Fraud topics, the successful candidate will have experience in identifying and remediating control weaknesses, conducting fraud and FEC risk assessments to identify gaps and improvement opportunities, and be comfortable presenting in face to face and online environments.

Top Role Accountabilities
- Execute Client Awareness Activities through developing and maintaining a calendar of client awareness activities to ensure that clients and staff are educated about fraud risks, scams, and other financial economic crimes
- Provide targeted and general awareness training on FEC risks, including but not limited to sanctions, PEPs, Adverse Media, structure risk tax risk, and geographic risks
- Create appropriate client messaging to prevent scam activity and address other clients falling victim to financial economic crimes
- Ensure consistent and clear communication to clients regarding prevention measures
- Develop and implement strategies to proactively prevent fraud and scams
- Support fraud & FEC risk assessments across all business units and group functions in partnership with the business and first line risk
- Identify training needs on the back of risk assessments and via training needs analysis
- Support investigation of incidents of fraud and other financial economic crimes
- Perform root cause analysis to understand how these crimes occurred
- Provide advice to stakeholders on fraud risk and controls related to processes (excluding policy matters)
- Partner with discipline leads across FEC Operations, as well as the Financial Crime Compliance and Risk Management functions to create awareness and prevention material to support effective FEC risk management
- Define and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) related to fraud and other financial economic crimes
- Use metrics to track the effectiveness of prevention efforts. Prepare regular reports on incidents, prevention efforts, and mitigation strategies
To be successful, you will have:
- 5-7 years + experience in a similar role within Financial Economic Crime risk management
- Experience in managing fraud risk within banking and/or consulting
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
- The capability to assess fraud & FEC risks and controls, highlight deficiencies and recommend improvements
- Knowledge of industry standard processes and approaches for managing fraud risk across deposit, card, and loan products
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint
- An ability to make sound judgements based on data and take responsibility for decisions made
