Position Information
The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
About the Role
This is a dynamic role that requires great flexibility, with a diverse repertoire for sourcing and arranging sporting events and other recreational activities for our boarder community throughout the scholastic year.
The role also requires high level communication and interpersonal skills to work with students ranging from 11 to 18 years of age. Work independently and within an overarching team environment, and possess very good planning and prioritising skills.
Essential Requirements
Able to interact with female and male students;
Understanding of a residential environment;
Flexible working hours, with the ability to work afternoon, evenings and/or weekends;
Develop recreational and sporting programs for a diverse residential clientele;
Network or ability to create a network of clubs and sporting associations to prompt best practice in coaching and youth development; and
Ability to develop approaches to increase student participation in recreational and sporting programs.

Additional Information
Hurlstone Agricultural High School (HAHS) is the only NSW government coeducational selective agricultural High School with boarding facility and large school farm. There are currently 967 students enrolled, with a boarding facility that can accommodate at least 180 students, and a large multi-enterprise farm.
As a boarding school, we offer housekeeping services to our boarder community, which is operated by a small team.
HAHS sits on 159 hectares, sharing educational land with four other departmental entities. Most of the land is used for farming. It is five minutes from the M5 entry/exit and 250m adjacent the Glenfield rail station. It borders the Hume Highway M5 on the western side, residential homes on the north farm boundary, and adjoins the NSW Transport boundary on the eastern and southern sides.
Both our boarding facility and farm are under a major capital works project with a planned commissioning date set for late 2024.
