We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team in a full-time temporary capacity. In this role, the successful applicant will will support schools and communities to engage and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to raise awareness and participation in educational decision making processes.

Your Role



As the Community Partnerships Officer you will have responsibility for the following:









Identify community training and development needs based on effective community profiling, coordinating the delivery of appropriate programs to communities, aimed at supporting the development of community contacts and local school and community partnership agreements.

Develop and maintain a regional profile of local demographic, social, cultural, geographic and service characteristics through data collection, consultation with departmental officers, community service agencies, business organisations, other government services and key people from diverse cultural and social groups.

Support schools and communities to develop, implement and monitor appropriate programs which raise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community awareness and participation in educational decision making processes, contributing to the development of local community awareness, promoting a comprehensive school community profile.

Facilitate stakeholder and reference groups to support community development programs and networks that meet the needs of the school encouraging partnerships with community service agencies and community leaders.

Consult with networks, on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educational issues, assisting school community groups, peak bodies and regional teams with advice and strategies for effective participation in education and access to information, resources and services.

Provide advice and feedback to regional teams on current school and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community issues, contributing to effective consultation and decision making processes.

Prepare submissions, plans and reports in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to a broad range of clients in relation to the implementation of community development programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Develop innovative and effective strategies for building relationships among all stakeholder and client groups.

Liaise with community service agencies to initiate collaborative action, addressing community issues that may impact on schools and to link schools and parents with appropriate agencies.

Conduct workshops to increase the participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members in education decision making.

For this position, it is a genuine occupational requirement that it be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person as set out in Section 7 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1991 for the purposes contained in Section 25 of that Act.



When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
