We are seeking applications from people with experience and skills related to the education of students who have vision impairment with a strong knowledge of assistive technology for students with vision impairment, the Australian Curriculum and the impact of vision impairment on students and their access and participation in the curriculum on the same basis as their peers.





- The Advisory Visiting Teacher, Assistive Technology (AVT-AT), Statewide Vision Impairment Services, in collaboration with the Deputy Principal, will have statewide oversight of the assistive technology needs of students with vision impairment.







- The AVT-AT will work collaboratively with the SVIS and regional teams to assist schools and families to assess and determine the assistive technology needs of students and supporting these teams to align student needs with the appropriate technology/ies.

- The AVT-AT will provide professional learning opportunities, information and advice to build workforce capability that maximizes student access and participation in the curriculum.

- Maintaining teaching competency and current knowledge of relevant assistive technology for students with vision impairment will be essential.

- The AVT-AT will manage the development of assistive technology teaching and learning informational resources for the service.

- The AVT-AT role is accountable to the Deputy Principal Statewide Vision Impairment Services, (based at Narbethong State Special School Campus).

A mandatory requirement of this role is:

Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. Information on registration requirements is available at www.qct.edu.au

Qualification in teaching students who have vision impairment is preferred but not mandatory for application to this position.
